Playing NCAA Division I tennis on a scholarship in college was a massive goal of mine as I was growing up.
A huge obstacle stood in my way, though — I didn’t have the means to belong to a country club or to travel to sanctioned tournaments, where I could compete with people better than me (which are popular ways to get better) or pay for a bunch of lessons.
SO I read books and hit against walls… any and every wall I could find.
There were times when I felt inferior to the rich kids, struggled with a knee injury, and got my butt kicked on the court… and wanted to give up, but I held on to that clear vision I had to one day be a University of South Florida Bull.
My passion overcame my fear as I stayed focused and took bold action toward my dream.
