I turn 58 this month…
This picture is from the 2007 premiere of my first documentary film I produced, directed, and wrote called Ten at the Top in Tampa Bay.
I’m proudly standing with the trailblazing women I featured in the film.
Had I known then, what I know now, I would have been a filmmaker much sooner in life…
I had NO filmmaking experience, just an undeniable passion and the fierce belief to tell a great story that I knew would inspire others.
I was absolutely AMPed up and achieved my goal a year after I told everyone who would listen THAT I WAS GOING TO DO IT!
The film made its TV debut on PBS / WEDU in Women’s History Month—just as I’d planned, March 2007.
The Op-Ed I wrote was plastered above the fold in The Tampa Tribune, it was accepted into film festivals (even Tampa’s prestigious Gasparilla Film Festival), and all over the news. A professor at the University of South Florida even used it in her class.
Many prestigious women’s groups, who were in awe of my accomplishment, invited me to show the film and tell them about my courageous journey.
I’ve since made two more successful documentary films and am about to announce the launch of my 4th one…
So, back to the “had I known then, what I know now” statement…
