Tampa, FL (March 29, 2022) – City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor showcases her basketball skills in the inclusive “It’s Game Time” sports, music video that premiered on World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st, in Tampa. The music video highlights the “Champa Bay” winning spirit, and the diverse, scenic Tampa Bay community. GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa ambassadors who were born with Down syndrome are featured in sports and dance scenes, showcasing their ABILITIES and highlighting inclusion.
Longtime best friends and GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa participants, Sam Piazza, Nick Altieri, and David Scott are featured playing basketball with Mayor Castor at Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School where the school’s student body fills in as raving fans, while retired Tampa Bay Buccaneer Michael Clayton plays the courtside announcer. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Tampa Bay Rays, are professional sports team brands officially featured in the music video.

Piazza, Altieri, and Scott are members of the GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa “Participant Outreach Committee” and part of the local workforce. Piazza is a Team Member at PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality), Altieri works for Public Defender Julianne M. Holt and Clean Juice; and Scott is employed by Publix Supermarket.
Tampa Filmmaker Renee Warmack, who produced the music video, met the three men when she cast them in her Tampa-based documentary film “Because of Sam” (Because of Sam ) that chronicles Piazza’s inspirational life story. A portion of “It’s Game Time” first appeared in the “Because of Sam” end credits.
